We’re learned about KINDNESS this month. Check it out!

KINDNESS, Be kind to others!

In virtual Sunday School, We began our theme of KINDNESS by talking about it being an important choice. We make choices every day such as what to eat, what to do for fun, what clothes we'll wear. We can choose to put on kindness every morning just like we put on our clothes! We did an experiment in which items of varied sizes and weight were dropped into a bowl of water and discovered that every single item caused a ripple, just as every act of kindness can cause a ripple. God wants us to know that even a small act of kindness can have a huge impact on the world!

KINDNESS, Be kind to family & friends

In virtual Sunday School, on Valentine's Day, we continued our theme of KINDNESS with the story of Naomi and Ruth. We discussed ways God shows kindness to us and were reminded that God wants us to pass on the kindness. It was a perfect day to celebrate family and friends and talk about how important it is to be kind to the people that mean the most to us. We played Kindness cootie catcher, naming specific people in our families and stating a kind act we could do for them.

KINDNESS, Be kinder than to have to be

In virtual Sunday School, we talked about going beyond simple acts of kindness. In his Sermon on the Mount, Jesus said, "Suppose someone forces you to go one mile, go two miles with them." Jesus said these words during a time when people were forced to carry the heavy backpack of a Roman soldier for one mile but his message was simple...choose to be kinder than you have to be. We discussed acts of kindness we did over the week. For fun, we played a game of "one mile" would you rather and a hiking shoe guessing game.

KINDNESS, Be kind to people who are different from you

In virtual Sunday School, we closed on our theme of KINDNESS by discussing what the world might be like if there was no individuality, diversity, or variety. What if everyone looked the same? What if we had to eat the same food every day or learn only one subject in school? What if everything in the world was the same color? What if every one of our days was exactly the same? What if everyone chose the same career? God didn't design the world that way and that's the beauty of it. As we looked at closeup images of real snowflakes, we were reminded that although each snowflake is unique (just as we are), they work together to create amazing things. We watched a short video of a beautiful castle in Finland made entirely of snow. God wants us to remember to be kind to everyone who makes up His amazing and beautiful world. We had a good laugh making up our own silly mad lib version of Jesus's important parable - the Good Samaritan.
