We’re learned about RESPONSIBILITY this month. Check it out!
January - First Pres Kids
RESPONSIBILITY, Love!
In virtual Sunday School, we focused on the importance of rules - in school, in games, and in life. We discussed how God's rules are there to help us build a better relationship with Him and learned that God's greatest rule and our biggest responsibility is to love God and others. We discussed how loving God and loving others are like two sides of one coin. They are connected.

RESPONSIBILITY, Work Hard!
Last week we learned that God spoke to Solomon in a dream and said, "Ask for anything you want me to give you." Solomon asked for wisdom and God gave it to him! He shared many wise sayings in the book of Proverbs in the Bible. We took a look at Proverbs 6:6-8 -Think about the ant! Consider its ways and be wise! We learned some interesting facts about how ants work. Ants can lift 50x their body weight! The largest ant's nest ever found was 3,700 miles! We discussed jobs we have now and jobs we want to do when we get older. We learned that we have about 10 million brain cells - 40x as many an ant. God gives us the strength, intelligence, and creativity to work hard. Let's show responsibility!

RESPONSIBILITY, Make the most of what you've been given!
In virtual Sunday School, we continued our theme of RESPONSIBILITY with the Parable of the Three Servants. This story teaches us something very important and it's not about money. God wants us to make the most of what He gives us. It's about taking what we have - our gifts, talents, knowledge, experiences, even the love from God and making it grow. We talked about how different combinations of coins have the same value and were reminded that our talents and gifts, although very different, have the same value in the eyes of God. We looked at a ketchup object lesson to help us understand the way God can use even the smallest gift in us to do great things. We also watched short videos of two inspiring young children - one with a love for geography, the other - a cookie entrepreneur.

RESPONSIBILITY, Use your words wisely
In Sunday School, we wrapped up our theme of RESPONSIBILITY by talking about the importance of using words wisely. We deciphered some important words written in gibberish and filled in the blank of some popular phrases. We focused on the last phrase, "Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me" and decided that those words weren't true. As Paul wrote in Ephesians, we should only use words that build others up, not hurt them. We looked at an object lesson where aluminum foil represented our heart. Each time something hurtful was said, a wrinkle was put in the heart. Although not impossible, those wrinkles can be difficult to fix.
