Christian Yoga and Meditation

Peace for Mind, Body, and Soul

At First Presbyterian Church we know the importance of maintaining a healthy mind, body and soul.  In 2013 we introduced our Christian Yoga and Meditation program to provide our congregation and community with a regular practice that would help restore and maintain inner peace and relaxation in an environment designed to enhance and grow one’s personal relationship with God. The program has grown over the last 3 years from a one Sunday morning yoga class to now offering several classes throughout the week.

The program is led by certified Yoga Instructor David Bogdanos. David has been a yoga practitioner for the past 15 years. He became a certified yoga instructor in 2010, and has been trained by some of the top yoga teachers in the tri-state area. His philosophy on yoga is a compilation of all the wonderful teachers he has had the privilege to study under. The weekly sessions are suitable for all ages and fitness levels and no prior experience in yoga or meditation is necessary.  All in the community are welcomed and encouraged to come and experience this unique fusion of spiritual yoga. Walk-ins are always welcomed.  Come for one session or come for them all - there is always a warm welcome.  Please join us anytime!

"I believe the practice of yoga has opened my life and my heart to a whole new way of thinking. I appreciate each day of my life and live it to the fullest. I love both teaching yoga and witnessing the profound transformation that unfolds when people practice it. Yoga not only promotes better physical health, it also brings about mental, emotional, wellness and balance, in addition to spiritual awareness. So come join me on this journey, if only to release stress, laugh, and feel lighter. Come with an open heart and mind, while having some fun in the process. I look forward to meeting you on our mats!

There are no strangers, just friends I haven’t met yet.”

Namaste,

David Bogdanos (Yoga Dave)

Restorative Yoga & Crystal Bowl Meditation

In February and May of 2016, we offered a special event: Candlelight Restorative Yoga & Bowl Meditation Night. Designed to restore and refresh the body, mind and spirit, this 90 minute session was held in the Church’s beautiful chapel and included gentle stretching on the mat with a focus on restorative yoga poses and deep breath for relaxation followed by the angelic vibrations of pure crystal singing bowls.  These bowls reach through the chakra system of the body to bring a deep resonation of love, peace, inner truth, guidance and connection.  Sound therapy provides great energy, healing and re-awakening the natural being.

Becca Walker, 225hr certified yoga instructor, led the first portion of the night, and Elizabeth Hanifin, LCSW, psychotherapist in private practice, briefly explained the chakra connection to vibration and then played the healing bowls.

We will post a date soon for our next special event this Fall. To be added to our email list, please contact us below.
